Rooted in God’s Word. Shaped by Culture. Growing Leaders Who Transform Communities.

We believe every tribe deserves a Christ-centered servant-leader who understands their stories, honors their culture, and brings the Gospel in ways that truly make sense.

Our Story

Saleng Leadership Institute was founded with a simple but powerful conviction:

Leadership training must be rooted in the realities of the people it serves.

For many years, church planting efforts in Mindoro have faced a common challenge,

models and methods often come from outside the community.

They do not always reflect the cultural identity, learning styles, or everyday struggles of the Mangyan and other local tribes.

As a result,

discipleship becomes difficult, and

ministry becomes unsustainable.

Saleng Leadership Institute (SLI) exists to change this.

We are a non-profit religious organization based in Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro, dedicated to preparing Christian servant-leaders through a context-rooted, community-informed, and biblically grounded approach to transformational education.

From the beginning, our vision has been clear:

“Alagad ni Kristo Bawat Tribo”

A trained Christian servant-leader in every village of Mindoro.

OUR MISSION

To provide excellent, relevant, and holistic biblical leadership training for intercultural mission and transformational ministry, equipping leaders to serve their communities

spiritually, culturally, and Practically.

What Makes Us Different

1. Context-Rooted Curriculum

Our programs are developed with the community, not just for them.
We collaborate with tribal leaders, pastors, theological educators, mission organizations, NGOs, and local churches to ensure the learning journey reflects the people’s:

  • culture

  • language

  • values

  • way of life

  • forms of communication (including orality and storytelling)

We honor the lived realities of the people we serve.

2. Integrative Learning

We teach through methods that the community naturally uses. Stories, conversations, real-life tasks, and lived experiences.

Learning connects:

  • biblical truth

  • community practices

  • livelihood

  • leadership

  • worship

  • family life

Students learn not only through books but through life.

3. Transformational Theological Education

Our training goes beyond information.
It aims at transformation,  shaping:

  • character

  • worldview

  • relationships

  • values

  • everyday practice

When God transforms a leader, that transformation flows into the community.

4. Integrated Church Planting Model (ICPM)

Our church planting model includes:

  • Theology of Work

  • Stewardship and Generosity

  • Business as Mission

  • Agriculture and Entrepreneurship

  • Orality Strategies

  • Integral Mission

Students practice what they learn. The school becomes a laboratory, and their villages become their mission fields.

5. Sustainability for Ministry

We integrate Income Generating Activities (IGA) so Christian workers can support both their ministries and their families.
These livelihood programs also become models that can be replicated in tribal communities.

WHY WE EXIST

Because we believe that:

  • the Gospel should speak through culture, not against it,

  • discipleship should be deep and practical,

  • ministry should be holistic, and every tribe should encounter Christ in a way that feels like home.

A Mindoro where every village has a trained servant-leader rooted in scripture, strengthened by community, and equipped to lead lives marked by faith, generosity, sustainability,

and cultural beauty.

OUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE
